Where do I go when I need help?

If the issue involves all or most of your site, conduct a Faculty Club Meeting. Contact your principal and seek solutions. The immediate supervisor of your principal is the Superintendent. (323) 887-7900 ext. 2201

If the Contract has been violated, consider an informal level grievance. (Contract pg. 18-20).

If your class size is in excess of contractual limits, please see the Notification of Class Size Violation Form, fill it out and give it to your MTA site Representative.

If the issue revolves around safety consult the Contract, pp. 48-52. You may also complete an MTA Safety and Security Report.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) works with civil rights disputes. (323) 894-1000. The Department of Fair Employment and Housing consults on employment discrimination issues. (323) 897-2840.

Retirement planning issues can be directed to the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS). (800) 228-5453. Many districts retirement questions can be answered by Jean Sato in Personnel. (323) 722-5005 ext. 2329.

Worker's compensation questions can be answered by Risk Manager Ann Cantor. (323) 887-7900 ext. 7919. Members with workers' compensation cases may also seek attorneys.
