Are you interested in changing insurance plans? Once you have made your decision, simply print the following form and send it in to CalPERS. The deadline for making changes this year is November 4, 2011. If you plan to make a change, don't wait.

Insurance Open Enrollment Town Hall Meeting Announced

The Montebello Teachers Association has announced one Insurance Town Hall Meeting date for retirees. If you are interested in learning about the changes that will impact your health benefits starting on January 1, 2012 or are looking to change plans or providers, please consider joining us for this meeting. Three different meetings will take place through the day and will be specifically tailored for people of a certain age. The meeting date and times are below:

Friday, October 28, 2011        MUSD Board Room        9:00 AM - 10:30 AM         Early Retirees (under 60 years of age)

Friday, October 28, 2011        MUSD Board Room       11:00 AM - 12:30 PM        Regular Retirees (between ages 60-66)

Friday, October 28, 2011        MUSD Board Room        2:00 PM - 3:30 PM            Trust Fund Retirees (over 67 years of age)

Meetings Announced to Explain PARS Retirement Incentive

The Montebello Teachers Association and the Montebello Unified School District have announced two meetings for people interested in the PARS Retirement Incentive. Each of these meetings, run by PARS, will serve to explain the details of the incentive. Each eligible member will be furnished an individual folder with information specific to his/her situation at either of these meetings. All folders that are not picked up at either of the two meetings will be mailed out after the second meeting. The Meeting Dates Are:

A third meeting is scheduled in November to assist people with the actual process of resigning from the District and electing to take advantage of the PARS retirement incentive. Representatives from the Benefits Department and the MTA Office will be available at this meeting to disseminate information regarding Health Benefits. This meeting is scheduled for:

Retirement Incentive Announced for 2011-2012

The Montebello Unified School District and the Montebello Teachers Association have signed an MOU regarding a retirement incentive for eligible members that retire by the end of the 2011-2012 school year. Please click here to read the memorandum and for the details of the incentive.

Insurance Open Enrollment Meetings Announced

CalPERS Open enrollment will take place between October 10 and November 4, 2011. The Montebello Teachers Association has announced Town Hall style meetings to communicate any plan and/or rate changes to both active and retired members of MTA. One meeting in particular will be dedicated to Retired Members. Within the day, there are plans to hold separate meetings for the various age groups of retirees, in order to communicate only the specific information that applies to you.

The meetings for Retirees will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the District Office. As soon as the group meetings are finalized, they will be posted here! Check back soon.

2011 & 2012 Retiree CalPERS Rates

The rates for retired members that under 60 years old will be the same as the rates for active members and include the Dental Insurance at no extra cost. In some instances, members may benefit more by opting out of that active member rate and moving to the retiree rates. By opting out, you will be responsible for paying for dental insurance, however, in some cases, this will still save you money over having to pay the active insurance rate. What Does the Trust Fund Do For Me?

In 1987, the Montebello Teachers Association created a program called the Montebello Teachers Association Retirement Supplemental Health Plan (Trust Fund for short). This program was designed to help retirees maintain their health care benefits after age 67, when the District stops paying for them.
