The MTA office will be closed from Monday, December 19 through Wednesday, January 4.

The MTA office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The office closes at 4 p.m. Fridays and the day before a holiday.

Nominate a Teacher for the Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence

Presented jointly by the NEA Foundation and the National Education Association, the NEA Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence annually recognizes, rewards, and promotes excellence in teaching and advocacy for the profession.

Five national finalists will receive $10,000 each. The national recipient will receive $25,000.

All MTA/CTA members are eligible to become CTA’s nominee.

Applications are due to CTA January 13. More information is available through the MTA office or by e-mailing Judy Thomas at JThomas@cta.org.

Are You Planning to Advance on the Salary Schedule?

Information regarding placement on the salary schedule is available through the Human Resources Office. Information regarding professional development units and district salary credits is available through the Instructional division.

The deadline to file a request for a change in the salary schedule classification with the Personnel Office is:
Traditional Calendar
Opening of School and/or January 31
YRE
June 30 and/or December 31

The request for change must be made by the dates listed above. Transcripts may be received after the deadlines as long as the official request has met the specific dates. If implementation is delayed the increase will be retroactive to the appropriate pay warrant.

Association Sponsored Book Drive

The Association is sponsoring a book drive to benefit needy children who participate in Christmas at the Cannons December 24.

Anyone wishing to donate a book may give it to a Building Rep by Tuesday, December 13. The books will be labeled as a gift from the Montebello Teachers Association and distributed to children from families who have been identified by staff from Montebello USD schools.
