Anniversary Increments Anniversary increments are annual stipends for employees who have served with MUSD for 16 years or longer. "Years of service" include years of teaching experience as well as years of work in any MUSD position, such as an instructional aide or clerk. The anniversary increments are:
To be eligible, an employee must be regularly employed on a monthly basis, have rendered and continue to render satisfactory performance, and served the necessary qualifying years of service. If you have years of service that have not been calculated toward your anniversary increment, contact the Personnel Office (ext. 2210). The statute of limitation for back pay is 3 years. Political Action Raffle Winners At the November 16 Rep Council meeting, the Council recognized the many hours of volunteer service contributed to the school board election. Special recognition was given to Robert Hooper (BGA) who made 1072 phone contacts. Our raffle winners were also drawn. The $20 prizes went to Mercedes Shores (GWE), Gloria Estrada (MPE), Fawn Chan (BVE), Carmen Adams, and Fé de la Torre; the $100 prize went to Iva Chen-Kang (PHE). School Board Reorganization The first meeting for our newly elected Board members is Thursday,
December 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the District Board room. Richard Adams, Marcella Calderon
and Ed Chau will be sworn in and officially take office at this time. Retirement Planning CTA is sponsoring a Pre-Retirement Workshop on Saturday, January 22, at the Cerritos Sheraton. Mark this date on your calendars; more details will be available soon. NEA Affirmative Action UniServ Intern Program NEA is recruiting applicants for its Affirmative Action UniServ Intern Program. This program is designed to prepare ethnic minority and women members for UniServ staff work. Individuals selected for the intern program will participate in an intensive five week training program in Washington, D.C. from July 11 through August 11, 2000, followed by a three month full-time field-based work assignment; interns must be prepared to relocate beginning in early September. NEA will pay full expenses related to the training and field assignment, and interns are expected to actively pursue employment opportunities within NEA. Anyone interested in applying must submit a letter of interest to NEA by December 15 (faxed copies will not be accepted). Application packets will be mailed beginning December 1, outlining the requirements and process for screening and selection; completed applications must be received by NEA no later than January 31, 2000.
