Special Education Settlement Will Bring Funds to the District

A settlement between the education community and the state will provide public education with some $520 million in retroactive payments to settle 20 years worth of under funding for special education programs.

Schools will receive $270 million early in 2001 and $25 million a year for the next decade. In the next few months we will discover what this state funding will mean to the district. It will be a component of the 2001 negotiations.
