How To Prepare Yourself To Compete For UniServ Vacancies workshop is a component of the CTA Affirmative Action Program for racial minorities of both genders and women CTA members. The special one-day training session will help you investigate whether staff work is for you. The workshop will be Saturday November 20 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Glendora. Applications are available at the MTA office and are due November 5.

NEA Intern Program Offers Training

The NEA Intern Program is seeking highly motivated and committed ethnic minorities and women leaders who are interested in employment as UniServ staff and who are willing to relocate for future employment purposed. Letters of interest are due to NEA by December 2. More information is available through the MTA office.

Memorial Education Program

The CTA Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Education Program will provide recognition for students and their teachers who demonstrate an understanding of the vision and guiding principles by which Cesar E. Chavez lived his life. The Awards Program will honor the memory of this great man and ensure that the spirit of his work continues in the classrooms of California. Entries are due April 1, 2004. Applications are available at the MTA office and at www.cta.org.

District Section 125
Open Enrollment Is Now!

Between October 15 and November 15 you may enroll in the 2005 Section 125 program. Under this program, you can establish pre-tax payroll deductions to pay for:

Child care expenses;
Medical expenses; and,
Health insurance premiums.

According to Federal Law

Dependent care deductions are limited to $5,000 per plan year
Dependent care reimbursement can only be made from funds currently on deposit in your reimbursement account

Medical expense reimbursements can be made up to the amount of the total deduction regardless of the balance in your account at the time of the request. The district plan limits deductions to $3,000 in any plan year. (Raised from $2,000 last year.)

All reimbursements require the submission of both a claim form and a receipt from the provider.
Any funds left in your account at the end of the plan year will be lost.
