The Montebello Teachers Association maintains a unique benefit for members. Eligible retirees maintain lifetime health insurance paid for by the Retiree Supplemental Health Plan (The Trust). The District pays eligible retirees a flat dollar amount toward health insurance until age 67. The Trust pays the same flat dollar amount after age 67. The Trust is funded through dues. Beginning October 1 the Trust contribution will be $70 per month October through July. (Last year the contribution was $60 per month.)

The Trust currently has approximately $16 million. The Trust consultants have advised the Trustees to raise the monthly contribution in order to keep up with inflation. The Trustees are: Chairperson David Lebow (retiree), Paul McKernan (retiree), Frank van der Baan (BVE), Cynthia Ramirez (MAI). Executive Director Kathy Køhn is a non-voting trustee.

Complete the District Personnel Authorization Form

The Contract provides for reimbursement for personal equipment at school under the following conditions:
The maximum claim is $250
The employee completed the District Personnel Equipment Authorization Form.
Ask your site secretary for the form. Complete it for every personal computer, VCR, CD player, and other equipment you have brought from home. For more information See Article XVII Safety, Security, and General Working Conditions Section F.2.b. p.51.

Kaiser Prescription Rates

The Kaiser prescription rate is $5 for generic and $10 for brand name for a 100 day supply beginning October 1. The August 25 Contact inaccurately reported the rate as $10 for generics and $20 for brand name prescriptions.

The prescription rate for Blue Cross is $10 for generics and $20 for name brands beginning October 1.

Open enrollment ends October 1. This is the time to add dependents and amend long term care insurance.
