RE-ELECT RICHARD ADAMS

Richard Adam's campaign is hosting a fundraiser on Friday, June 18 at the
Quiet Cannon. It is important for us to show our support to our friendly

1969 CERTIFICATES

The following teachers completed the training and qualify for ELD/SDAE
Certification through CTA's SB 1969 Teacher Professional Development Program.

BARGAINING SURVEYS DUE

The Bargaining Surveys were distributed on the reverse side of the May 18
Contact. Please answer the two questions and return the survey to a Building
Rep no later than Tuesday, June 8. The surveys will be reviewed by the
Bargaining Team prior to negotiations. Chairperson Margie Granado plans to
begin negotiations in August.

REVENUE AND EXPENSE OPEN HEARING

The Revenue and Expense Committee will host an open hearing on Tuesday, June
8, 3:30 p.m. at La Merced Intermediate School. All interested members are
welcome to attend. Chairperson Dianne Garcia-Stevens will discuss the work
of the committee including bond implementation and audit recommendations. She
will take time to answer questions and bring member concerns back to the
committee.

...assessments should be developmentally appropriate.

...the primary grade curriculum is structured for hands on experiential learning.

...testing must be parallel to curriculum in order to be valid.

...the law provides that first grade students may use alternative testing strategies.

...that the Montebello Teachers Association opposes the Stanford 9 and Apprende tests for first grade students.

...that the Montebello Unified School District find alternative forms of appropriate testing for our first graders.
