EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR
 The Montebello Rotary named Tessie Reyes (GWE) Educator
of the Year. She received a plaque from the Rotary and a proclamation from Montebello
Mayor
Kathy Salazar.
CHU HONORED
President Dorothy Chu (CCE) has been selected to be
a recipient of the
Congressional Certificate of Merit Award by Grace Napolitano, Member of
Congress. She was acknowledged at a banquet last Saturday for generously
serving in our neighborhoods and working tirelessly to improve our community
through volunteerism and patriotism.
BLANCHE CHESTER
Frank van der Baan (BVE) was awarded the Blanche Chester
Award for Teacher Advocacy at Tuesday's Council meeting. He has worked for the Association
on the Executive Board, the Bargaining Team, Political Action Committee, and almost
everything else.
TEACHER IN POLITICS
Karen van der Baan (MPE) was awarded the Theodore Bass
Teacher in Politics award by CTA at the Saturday State Council meeting. Karen is
currently the
Political Action Chairperson.
MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. SCHOLARSHIP
Erin Walker, daughter of Laura Walker (EAI) received
the CTA Martin Luther
King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship.
