 The contract package was ratified with a total of 1096 votes. The final

The Board of Education also ratified the contract.
ETHNIC MINORITY LEADERSHIP
The California Teachers Association (CTA) is sponsoring Ethnic Minority
Leadership Development on Saturday, April 15. The training will be held at
the Westin South Coast Plaza. The training topics will include

Obstacles
to Association Involvement
Empowerment
for Leaders

CTA STAFF INTERN PROGRAM
CONSIDER APPLYING!
Applications are now available for the CTA Staff Intern Program. The
purpose
of the program is to prepare selected candidates to successfully compete for
UniServ staff positions. The program is designed to provide opportunities for
ethnic minority members of both genders, as well as non-minority women CTA
members who are committed to securing UniServ staff positions in California.
Applications are available at the MTA office and are due Wednesday, March 15.
TRANSFER REQUESTS ARE DUE APRIL 15
Those considering transfer for the 2000-2001 school year must submit
a
transfer request to the Certificated Personnel Office by 4:30 Friday, April
14. These forms may be obtained from your site secretary or from the
Certificated Personnel Office. For more information contact Jean Sato at
extension 2329.
REVENUE AND EXPENSE HEARING
A Revenue and Expense hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 29
at 4 p.m.
The hearing will be held at La Merced Intermediate School. The focus of the hearing
will be issues regarding purchasing. All members are invited to attend.
READ ACROSS AMERICA
Read Across America is a literacy project developed by the National
Education
Association (NEA). Read Across America encourages everyone to read to a child
on Thursday, March 2, Dr. SeussÇs birthday.
CTA
has expanded Read Across America from Thursday, March 2òTuesday, May 2.
