COMMUNITY
SUPPORTS KIRSCHENBAUM
A press conference was held in front
of the District office on Thursday,
February 18 at 6 p.m. Members of the community, along with teachers,
politicians, and former Board members, gathered to clarify the conditions in
which Norm Kirschenbaum stepped down from being superintendent. Approximately 100
gathered and spoke out against the Board's actions, which resulted in
Kirschenbaum accepting the position of superintendent emeritus.
Most of
the crowd attended the subsequent Board meeting. Individuals let it be
known that they were dissatisfied with the Board's actions for many reasons
including the despicable treatment of Kirschenbaum and the obvious waste of
public funds by creating another management position. The crowd was
particularly dissatisfied with the fact that Board members Hecotr Chacon,
Frank Gomez, and Frank Serrano have refused to be specific regarding why they
were dissatisfied with Kirschenbaum's work as superintendent. Board President
Richard Adams has opposed Kirschenbaum 's removal from the beginning.
MEJIA NAMED
SUPERINTENDENT
The Board named former Deputy Superintendent
Maggie Mejia superintendent at
Thursday's Board meeting. She has all ready begun her new duties. It is
believed that in time more changes will be made in the overall management
team.
