
The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and State Teachers’ Retirement System (STRS) will again conduct a workshop in the District describing services available to STRS members. The workshop will be held Wednesday, March 2 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. It will be held in the Board Room at District office. No reservations are necessary for this workshop. Immediately, following the workshop, employees may sign up for individual interviews scheduled for Thursday, March 31.
Retirement Benefits Workshop Planned for Thursday, March 10
The MTA Trust Fund and all retiree health benefits will be explained at the Retirement Benefits Workshop Thursday, March 10, 3:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Office. The workshop will be presented by Dolores Gonzales from MUSD Risk Management and Sandy Muhr from Allied Administrators. All those considering retiring in the next several years should attend this very informative workshop. Friends and spouses are invited to attend as well.
Early Retirement Option Deadline Is Friday, April 15
If you are planning on early retirement at the conclusion of the current school year, you must complete and return the option form to the certificated personnel office no later than Friday, April 15. You must be between 55 and 60 years of age and have 15 years of experience with the District to qualify for the option. You are not obligated to include a letter of resignation at the time of completing the option form. Call Jean at extension 2329 for more information.

The MTA Retirement is scheduled for Friday, June 3. Please contact the MTA office if you are planning to retire or know someone who is. We plan to make this an evening to remember!
CTA STAFF INTERN PROGRAM
The California Teachers Association (CTA) Staff Intern Program annually prepares selected candidates to successfully compete for UniServ staff positions. The program is designed to provide opportunities for all CTA members who are committed to securing UniServ staff positions in California.

Educators Unite in Tsunami Relief Program
We are all aware of the earthquake in Asia and the resulting tsunamis that have devastated parts of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand and seriously impacted other countries bordering the Indian Ocean.
In the aftermath of the world’s worst natural disaster, Education International (EI) has established the Tsunami Relief Program to assist teachers and their families. CTA has donated $10,000 toward the fund. Individuals may also contribute. Checks may be sent to
