Simply complete the form below and return it to the MTA office by Friday, March 2. This honor is awarded to individuals who demonstrate strong Bargaining Unit member advocacy at their site and throughout the Association. All nominees will be asked to complete an application and statement. In addition, the nominator will be asked to gather individual testimonials from colleagues on behalf of the nominee.

The Executive Committee will select three Blanche Chester finalists, who will be announced at the April 24 Council meeting. There will be one finalist each from the three levels: pre K-grade 4, grade 5-grade 8, and grade 9-adult. A committee of former Blanche Chester winners will determine the winner among the finalists. The announcement will be made at the May 15 Council meeting. So take a moment and complete the form below and recognize an outstanding advocate.

How Do I Reserve the Substitute I Want?
School Business Procedures

Teachers may request a particular substitute as long as their "Request for School Business Substitute" has been reserved in the HR Office. The school site Project Director, or his/her clerk, is usually responsible for reserving school business substitutes.

School Business Procedures

Teachers may still request a particular substitute if they are taking an Ill or Personal Day. This is done by inputting that information into the Sub Finder system via phone or internet. This can be done by the teacher or by the school site secretary at any time.

Conference Attendance

When there are many substitutes reserved for school business, the site secretary may utilize the retired teacher list to reserve substitutes. Teachers are not expected to make their own contact from this list.

Initial concerns regarding substitutes should be directed to the site principal and/or site secretary. Contact your Building Reps if concerns persist.
